Why is this important and necessary?

At Mt. Fuji’s peak even midsummer temperatures are like midwinter temperatures in Tokyo. When the wind is strong the risk of hypothermia increases.

Why is this important and necessary?

Although it’s very popular for beginner climbers, Mt. Fuji is the mountain with the harshest weather conditions in Japan.

What do you like about Mt. Fuji?

It’s a very neat shape and looks fantastic from every side! It puts my heart at ease.

What’s the best thing about Imafuji?

It’s not only about knowing the weather conditions at Mt. Fuji but also getting basic climbing knowledge and trivia.

Providing the Fujiyoshida Ryokan Association with weather forecasts for Mt. Fuji, including lightning and storm alerts. I also suggest implementing a feature in the Yamareco Mt. Fuji app that alerts users upon arrival at turnaround points and high-risk weather zones.

PROFILE

CEO of Yamaten, Japan’s only specialized mountain weather company. Former head coach of Chuo University Mountain Club. Served as a specialist survey committee member and instructor at the National Mountain Climbing Research Institute. Ambassador for "Mountain Day" and an advisory developer for Casio's "Pro Trek" series. Passionate about mountain climbing, weather forecasting, and cloud observation—more than anything else. Climbing experience includes Chomkhangri (Tibet), winter traverses of the entire northern ridge of Mt. Tsurugi, and more. Since 2019, has summited mountains such as Everest (8,848m) and Manaslu (8,163m) while providing weather forecasts, deepening understanding of mountain meteorology. Currently serializing "One Hundred Mountains in the Sky" in the Asahi Shimbun Niigata, Nagano, and Yamanashi editions. Author of numerous books, including The Complete Guide to Mountain Weather (Yama to Keikoku-sha). Has made many television appearances, including on "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai."
