Kaminari Project
Turning the invisible danger into visible information
What is the Kaminari Project?
The most feared thing on a mountain by climbers and workers is lightning. The project started with the idea to inform people about the approach of cumulonimbus clouds, so people can countermeasure and avoid lightning strikes.
[Imafuji] has a field mill installed at the Tarobo at Gotemba New 5th Station to observe electric field strength.
As part of the test, a lightning alert will be issued to notify areas within a radius of approximately 5 km from Tarobo of the approach or passage of cumulonimbus clouds.
With the goal of leading to actions to protect affected people, we are collecting and investigating data related to cumulonimbus clouds and lightning around Mt. Fuji.
This section will provide a record of activities related to the project.
