How do you use Imafuji?
We use the wind direction and speed at the observation point as a reference when climbing the mountain. We also use it to check the temperature at the summit on a monitor at the fifth station before starting the climb.
Why is this important and necessary?
The altitude difference between the Fujinomiya 5th Station and the summit is about 1300m. The altitude difference from the Gotemba 5th Station is about 2300m. The strength of the wind and the temperature you feel are completely different depending on the altitude. For that reason, weather information is very important to protect yourself. Information on the most dangerous lightning strikes is also useful.
What would you like to say to the climbers?
It is recommended that you do not start out walking fast, but rather continue climbing steadily at a steady pace. Be careful as there have been many incidents of people wearing hiking boots that have not been used for several years and the soles coming off. Use rainwear designed for hiking. Once you get wet, your body will get cold and this can lead to hypothermia. Be very careful as straying from the hiking trail can cause rockfall.
What do you like about Mt. Fuji
I think it's a place where mountain lovers can gather. The view from the summit above the clouds is spectacular. Mount Fuji is also attractive as a mountain of faith.
What’s the best thing about Imafuji?
Very easy to use!
Please tell us about any Mt. Fuji-related activities/projects you are currently involved in.
We are currently discussing with the Shizuoka Prefecture Mount Fuji World Heritage Division about the "Guide's Guide Tips for Mount Fuji." Snow removal before the mountain opens is also an important project for us.
